Pompano Pompano

Well another good week here in LILONGWE!

We had exchanges this week and I got to go with my old companion Sister Tukuafu. We always have a good time and I’m always learning from her. We saw some great people and I love the time I have to spend in my area cause soon soon (pompano pompano) my time will be up and I want to enjoy every minute I have.

This week at church we had 16 investigators or new friends come! WOW it was a record for sure and it was a great meeting too. But one girl that came was special. So a little while ago really when Sister George first came, we taught these two younger girls named Moreen and Faddis. Now they weren’t super interested so we just told them to tell us when they wanted to us to come back. The other day when we were on exchanges we were somewhere far from where Faddis’ house was but she saw us and came up to me and told me to meet her other friend. I met her and invited them both to church and told Faddis that we could come and pick her up. SHE LITERALLY STAYS THE HOUSE NEXT DOOR TO THE CHURCH. Anyways so Sunday came and we go to pick her and walk with her and she is not ready yet so we told her to come when she is ready well.... we go into church and a few minutes later a member comes in late and tells us there is a girl outside who is scared to come in and insisting she wont come till the sisters come and get her.  We go outside and find Faddis and Unity, our recent convert, talking to each other. Turns out they are friends. So we took them both inside and brought them to class. But the best part is that there is some background behind why it was such a big deal for Faddis to come to church..... when we first taught her she had told us that she heard that when people go to our church they disappear... and that we don’t do normal things inside and a bunch of other rumors that I’d prefer not to mention... well.... we encouraged her to prove them wrong cause they were wrong! Well time passed but this Sunday she CAME and she told us after that she was so happy she did. How she really saw how she was able to learn more about Jesus Christ and felt really good during the sacrament. I’m so glad she came and that she had Unity to help her thorough it too. And it really taught me that a lot of times we let fears overcome something that could be really great. As we follow the spirit and replace faith with fear we will find out that our Heavenly Father has a lot in store for us.

Also this week our dear brother Christopher got baptized! He is a man from the Congo. He has been practicing and practicing his English and learning from us too! He is such a humble guy. He doesn’t have much materially but he does have a big heart and strong desire to follow our Savior and his baptism was a happy day for sure. He has been waiting for it for a long time! After he was baptized He bore a powerful testimony that he had written on a piece of paper and worked really hard on to make sure it was good English. Never have I met someone more committed to live the gospel and study the scriptures than this guy. He studies everyday and I know that Heavenly Father will provide for him as he stays faithful.

Also this week one of our people we are teaching offered us TOBWA... now tobwa is definitely not my fav Malawian drink but its okay! They make it from maize flour and these special seeds. If you want to know what it tastes like just grind up some dirty corn and put it in water and add a little sugar. ;-) yum !

Hope you all have a good week!

with lots and lots of love
