hello all!!!
Hope you are all doing well. I have decided
the theme for this week is how awesome reading the Book of Mormon is!
There are multiple experiences this week where
me and sister Godfrey have been able to help the people here learn how to read by
using the BOOK OF MORMON! So we have these investigators Owen and Mutinta. They
are siblings. Both of them play soccer and are SUPER GOOD, and they both want
to be baptized. But as we have been encouraging them to read the Book of Mormon
Owen came to us and told us he needed help with reading. So the past week we
have just been meeting with him and helping him learn how to read. His reading
level is probably around a third grader and he really struggles. Mutinata’s is
even worse, but they want to read so bad! So we sit next to them and they use a
card to follow along. We help them with the words they don’t know and then we
explain every couple of verses. What’s amazing though is that within five minutes
their reading improves so much!
Like it amazes me. The Book of Mormon isn’t
easy to read and especially here people don’t read much even though they say
they read the Bible haha, they don’t, so asking them to read the Book of Mormon
is sometimes a huge challenge, but once they try and we help them just a little
bit they just want to keep going. And do you know what’s even cooler? WE GET TO
READ THE BEST BOOK EVER! Every time we read and they begin to understand I feel
the spirit testify to me that this book is true. Not only does it change peoples
lives but helps them learn how to read too!
Even Alice and Margret a long time ago really struggled
but they have been studying and now they even write their favorite verses and
share them with us and Margret keeps a list of the things she has learned form
the Book of Mormon. And sweet sweet Alice decorated the inside of hers and wrote
"the greatest gift from Moulton and Godfrey." I am so grateful for
the Book of Mormon. It truly is the word of God. It makes our missionary work
easier because if people decide to read the book and find that it is true for
themselves they are strengthened in their testimony of everything else. Especially
in their desire to keep the commandments and follow the Savior. its powerful.
This week we received our transfer news and my
trainer Sister Godfrey is leaving me because training is over...I was so so so
so sad. Me and Sister Godfrey are companionship goals actually haha. We have a
good time and we are working hard together. I will miss her but we both go to
school in Provo so we are gonna see each other again which definitely makes
goodbyes easier!
I found out this morning that I’ll be training
the new sister that is coming from the New Zealand MTC! I am really excited,
feel very inadequate but know that it is going to be a great experience for me
as I continue to work on my patience and build my confidence as a missionary.
The pics this week are of me and Sister Godfrey
walking to the University of Zambia to meet an investigator. The walk there is
in this huge open field. It’s so nice. We love that walk!
The other pics are with me and Stella! She is
getting ready to be baptized and I just love her and her family so much.
Anyways I am excited for this week!
Happy new year everyone!
Sister Moulton
